Nevada's mule deer rut in November wherever NDOW speaks to it. Its biologists put the peak rut in late November in Unit 121, in the Cherry Creek and Egan ranges, and say the November 5 to 30 rifle hunt coincides with breeding in the Carson Range and with deer entering the rut in the White Mountains, Silver Peak and Palmettos. NDOW publishes no measured breeding dates.
Straight talk: NDOW's deer hunts are for mule deer, and the windows below are the mule deer rut. RackIQ still reads daily deer movement here from weather, terrain and pressure, but its rut model is tuned for whitetail, so treat Nevada timing as mule deer.
Nov 5 to 30
Peak: inside the November 5 to 30 hunt
NDOW says the rifle hunt here coincides with the mule deer breeding season.
Nov 5 to 30
Peak: deer entering the rut during the hunt
NDOW says bucks stay close to doe groups during the November 5 to 30 rifle hunt.
Nov 21 to 30
Peak: late November
NDOW's 2025 post-season survey here fell during the peak rut, its biologists said. NDOW gives late November, not exact days.
Regional estimates, and your area can vary. Where these dates come from is below. Confirm legal season dates with your wildlife agency: Nevada season dates (Nevada Department of Wildlife).
We found no NDOW fetal or conception-date study, but NDOW places the rut in three areas. In Unit 121, the Cherry Creek and Egan country, biologists surveyed in late November 2025, during what they call the peak rut period. In the Carson Range (units 192, 194 and 196), the November 5 to 30 rifle hunt coincides with the breeding season. In units 211 to 213, the White Mountains, Silver Peak and Palmetto country, deer are entering the rut during the November rifle hunt.
The cards follow those statements. NDOW names no peak day for the Carson Range or units 211 to 213, and we found no NDOW rut timing elsewhere.

NDOW ties the rut to the November 5 to 30 rifle hunts in the Carson Range and units 211 to 213. In Unit 121, late archery ends November 20, just before the late November peak.

Nevada hunters took about 5,600 bucks in the 2025 season, and 41 percent were four points or better. Rifle hunters succeeded 45 percent of the time, muzzleloader hunters 37 percent and archers 19 percent.
In the 2025 draw, residents filed about 38,700 applications for about 10,200 tags, roughly 1 in 4, and nonresidents about 18,700 for 885, about 1 in 21. NDOW puts the herd at about 73,000 mule deer going into 2026, up 1 percent.

Nevada is more than 80 percent public land, and NDOW says almost all of it is open to hunting. The BLM administers nearly 48 million acres, about two thirds of the state.
NDOW also owns or leases more than 165,000 acres of wildlife management areas, run mainly for wetlands and waterfowl, though hunting on them can include big game. In the Carson Range, a good number of deer winter on the Jacks Valley WMA, where hunting is legal.

A date on a calendar can't tell you which spot to sit. RackIQ weighs the rut phase for your part of Nevada against the wind, your way in, the pressure already on the ground and what you've seen there, then says hunt it or save it. The Scored Call™ is checked afterward, and every hunt you log makes the next call sharper.

Nevada's deer hunting is for mule deer, which NDOW says live across the state, from the Mojave Desert to sub-alpine peaks and the forests of the Sierra Nevada.

Yes, it reads daily deer movement from weather, terrain and pressure anywhere; just note the rut model is whitetail-tuned, so use Nevada rut timing as mule deer.
